Tongtong Xu graduated from the Smith School of Business at Queen’s University with a master’s degree in International Business. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Business with a specialization in International Trade from Cologne Business School in Germany. During school, she worked as an independent business consultant for local businesses by providing actionable implementation plans to assist the clients in improving the current company’s standing. Before joining DFI, Tongtong worked as marketing specialist in a Toronto-based marketing company to provide specialized marketing strategic plans to clients.


As the Chief Innovation Officer at the Digital Finance Institute, Tongtong is in charge of liaising speakers, sponsors and exhibitors. She actively establishes connections with industry leaders, media and ecosystem partners for the Digital Finance Institute. She also utilizes her marketing knowledge and expertise to help promote DFI’s flagship events and conferences by regularly engaging in customer acquisition and customer retention initiatives. Since joining DFI, Tongtong has helped grow DFI’s reputation as a global think tank in its community. Tongtong also conducts researches at DFI in various FinTech and AI topics for publishing. She is most notable for her contribution in the planning of AI World Forum 2017 and the 3rdAnnual Canadian FinTech & AI Awards.
